Sewerin UtiliTrac R130
The Sewerin UtiliTrac has many feautures that make this locator one of the best locators on the market. But the best feature is its simplisty of use.
I have been supplying cable locators to the industry for over 13 years and have trained on and sold many of the major brands in the industry. The biggest hurdle anyone faces when purchasing a locator is understanding how it works and what type of locator suits what I do. The biggest hurdle I faced when first using this locator was that is was very different from traditional locators. After testing against my favourite leading brands I came to the conclusion that this was a locator that was actaully very good in both performance aund use in the field. The first thing that I found was that locating was far quicker and just as accurate when used correctly. The single trigger control which controls all functions of this machine does take a bit of getting used to but once familiar I could locate 2 x faster with the same amount of accuracy as the traditional locator.
The second thing I found is that operators that arent as familiar with this technology actually located with ease. The Sewerin UtiliTrac offers all the functions that professionals need including Peak & Null but have several easy functions that allows a quick location. The line mode is by far the simplist form of locating using this machine and on normal locations is very accurate, once in congested areas you can change to the other functions to improve on accuraccy.
We recently did some trials with AUSGRID which is one of NSW leading power suppliers. Operators from AUSGRID found this machine to be very simple to use and proved to be as accurate as the current unit they where using. The UtiliTrac also had several Passive power modes which work on the different power systems that AUSGRID using. From these trials AUSGRID now use the UtiliTrac as an alternative and is proving popular with their staff in the field.
This unit is well worth a locate test and is perfectly suited to power companies, councils and water authorities that want something better than the traditional CAP, CAT type products or for operators who need more frequencies and functions for more demanding locates.
